Very stylish dressing mirror that beautifully reflects the Modernism style with a subtle reference to Art Deco, namely the stepped block under the mirror holder. The mirror is made of bronze and entirely chrome-plated. It is placed on a high weighted base, allowing it to swivel, and features mirror glass on two sides.
I suspect that this dressing mirror was once used in a luxury department store such as Le Bon Marché or an upscale millinery, a couturier, an exclusive jeweller, with many possible applications. However, it is also very convenient for home use. The adjustable mirror allows for a clear and detailed view, making it a beautiful and stylish addition to any space. Timeless, luxurious, and chic, this mirror possesses precisely what good design should have, in addition to its excellent quality, which goes without saying.
The mirror was made in the late 1930s and is signed on the bottom with an oval hallmark. With some difficulty, we read 'Villiers Pigalle Paris' on it. 'Pigalle' is the least certain part, but it is plausible. Villiers and Pigalle are small neighbourhoods in the heart of Paris in the 8th and 9th Arrondissement of Paris.
Very good. At the base, there is a spot where the chrome shows some wear due to polishing, use, and age, causing a slightly golden-brown patina to shine through the silver. Additionally, there is a small spot near the adjustment knobs from use.
