About this piece

Lovely round Art Deco photo frame with a diameter of 11.5 cm. The frame itself is enameled with a beautiful geometric pattern in blue, dark red, yellow, and black. The quality and craftsmanship are excellent. The frame is French and made of brass and copper, dating back to around 1925. The geometric pattern truly reflects the Art Deco era, and the color palette aligns with it as well.

The technique used to enamel this frame is called cloisonné. Cloisonné is a method where crushed (copper) wire is attached to a metal surface in specific motifs or patterns. The spaces between the wire pieces are covered with various colored enamel powders. The crushed wire prevents the colors from blending into each other during the heating of the enamel. Each color is thus confined within its own cell.

Note: In the photos, the frame is shown with a photo and with a watercolor, both of which are included, if desired, with the frame.
