Art Deco bronze sculpture of a lying deer. The elegance and the vulnerability of the animal are beautifully displayed.
Between 1927 and 1935 Georges Lavroff stayed in France where he made various animal figures in the distinctive style of the Art Deco. He was a great success.
He returned in 1935 back to Moscow where he, as a registered artist, several monuments and official busts has commissioned by the Soviet regime.
The sculpture is signed on the right hind leg with G. Lavroff.
The marble base has some chips on the edges.
