About this piece

Charming relief of a young woman. It looks like she's just stepping out of the relief.
It is a typical Art Nouveau scene, which is clearly visible in the haircut, clothing and the decoration of the mistletoe which was very popular in the Art Nouveau period. The mistletoe symbolizes happiness and love.

The relief is made of baked clay (grès) and is partly glazed, including the mistletoe, the hair and the accents in the clothing. The relief is monogrammed with "A.C."

In that period were several artists and ceramists who signed with A.C., making it difficult to attribute this work to one artist with certainty.
Alexandre Charpentier, but also Augustin Carrier and Auguste Carli used the monogram A.C.
